Standalone. People sign in at chat.centralcodestation.com with the account they already have. You configure who may do what; you write no code.
Integrated. Your backend decides who may talk to whom and creates those conversations. Your web or mobile app lets the signed-in user read and write in them. Chat handles the messaging; your application keeps the business rules.
